Tal Shohat, Head of our Environmental Law Practice, has 18 years of experience at the Israeli Ministry of Environmental Protection, during which she held many posts, working in a variety of domains. In the course of her years at the Ministry, she has acquired an expertise in waste laws and laws for extended producer responsibility, in administrative enforcement, in determining work procedures and in process analysis and regularization, and she’s gained experience working with legislative and government bodies, public authorities and governmental companies.

Tal has led government teams in law amendment and application, has responded to the Supreme Court on many accounts, has been highly involved in an array of judicial proceedings and has promoted changes in the Israeli environmental arena. Her achievements include the implementation, enforcement and regularization of existing and new legislation, counting the Landfill Levy, Packaging Law, Electrical and Electronic Waste Law, Single-Use Carrier Bag Law, Deposit Law and many others. Her share in setting the Israeli policy for waste management is immeasurable.

Tal’s executive experience encompasses a wide range of field – from internal management of work teams to external management of consulting agents such as control companies, financial advisors, private investigators and so forth – and she was responsible for the management of multimillion Shekel governmental budgets. To top it all off, Tal has established and managed the Packaging Division in the Ministry of Environmental Protection, which works to implement extended producer responsibility laws, by, inter alia, establishing enforcement and reporting protocols, setting terms for contractual relations between manufacturers and importers and the authorities.
