Lifting the Covid-19 restrictions – Instructions for employers

Following the previous client circulars we issued, dealing with Covid-19, we would like to update you on the recent decision of the Israeli government.

In light of the successful vaccination campaign which resulted with a low and stable infection situation, the Ministry of Health decided not to extend the validity of certain Covid-19 regulations and restrictions.

Consequently, as of June 1, 2021, most of the restrictions imposed on the public following Covid-19 will expire, including the limitations of the “Purple Badge” and the “Green Badge”.

The restrictions that remain in effect and are relevant to workplaces are the obligation to wear masks in closed spaces, as well as the provisions regarding quarantine (for those returning to Israel from dangerous countries and/or unvaccinated people following contact with a confirmed patient).

In addition to those returning from abroad, there are specific restrictions that are updated on the Ministry of Health website, both in relation to how to enter Israel and the necessary medical checks for this purpose, as well as specific instructions according to the country from which they return. We recommend keeping up to date accordingly.

The removal of restrictions means that, with the exception of the obligation to wear a mask in closed spaces, most of the activity will be transferred to a normal format, without occupancy restrictions, without restrictions on holding frontal meetings, without the obligation of partitions at service desks, etc.

In our opinion, this decision by the Israeli government to remove all restrictions has an impact on workplaces that have decided to apply the “Green Badge” obligation to their employees, and we recommend consulting with our office in accordance with the case-by-case circumstances of each workplace.

Our office will continue to be at your disposal, and we will update from time to time in accordance with the various instructions that have come out.
